What happens when you choose Classic Engine Workshop for your engine?
Here’s how we aim to manage all jobs through our workshop:
1. SPECIFICATION
Every job we do starts with understanding what you need, and what we might offer. This means we can match the engine to your application.
You’re welcome to come to the workshop, we can visit you, or we can have a chat on the phone or via email; whichever you prefer.
2. ANALYSIS
Once the engine is on our bench we clean, strip, inspect and measure every part. This allows us to make a full recommendation of work required.
The inspection report is a guide to the engine’s condition, and a specification of proposed work.
3. PROPOSAL
We will provide you with an estimate of costs to complete the work, and gain your approval to proceed. This is the time to make choices about the external finish and performance upgrades you require.
4. WORK
Depending on the type of work required, the engine will be ready for collection within 8–12 weeks. As the build progresses, we will keep you up to speed with regular pictures and updates.
5. COMPLETION
At completion, you’ll get a full report of all work including measurements which adds significant value to your vehicle’s history folder.

A few things we’re good at
While we’re happy to turn our hands to anything classic engine related, these are some examples of typical work we carry out.
TOTAL ENGINE REBUILD
A complete strip-down, measurement and inspection of the total engine, refurbishment or replacement of all parts down to individual nuts and washers, and rebuilt to the highest standards using premium lubricants, sealants and gaskets.
If they exist, we’ll source the parts you need from anywhere in the world, if not we can have unobtainable parts made, or used parts reconditioned.
CARBS & ANCILLARIES
As with the total engine rebuild we can disassemble and refurbish any element of the engine, including carburettors, cylinder heads, pumps, distributors; if you need it we can probably help to rebuild it.
We lavish the same attention to detail on the small jobs as the large ones, and have fixed labour costs per carburettor, so you know what to expect.
ENGINE INSPECTION
We are fully equipped with top quality professional metrology equipment to measure and inspect your engine components once disassembled.
This is included in the full engine rebuild, or available as a separate service. A full report detailing the measurements will be given.
We can also diagnose engine failure through inspection of parts and can act as an expert witness.
PARTS CLEANING
& RESTORATION
We have a solvent parts wash, automatic rotary hot wash, vapour blaster, dry media blaster and hot jet wash, which means that our workshop is equipped with everything necessary to bring components back to their original condition. We can also arrange acid dipping, electroplating, ceramic coating, powder coating and many other specialist surface finish and repair processes, with people we trust.
